Serving Victims of Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Stalking
Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Victims
Because historical and cultural myths and biases create unique hurdles for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking, we specifically tailor training, technical assistance, and legal advocacy efforts to ensure that these victims have access to justice. In 2013 and 2020 this Project was honored with the Mary Byron Foundation Celebrating Solutions Award.
Training & Technical Assistance
NCVLI was awarded funding from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) under the FY 2020 Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Initiative. With this TTA Project NCVLI will enhance knowledge and skills around making victims’ voices and rights meaningful in criminal justice by building increased collaboration between system-based and community-based advocates. This includes providing responsive technical assistance to advocates to assist with their criminal justice and victims’ rights advocacy for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. While NCVLI has been funded through the Improving Criminal Justice Response and STOP Programs, all OVW grantees and potential grantees can request this assistance. Coordinated Community Response
NCVLI was awarded Improving Criminal Justice Response (ICJR) funding from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to facilitate multi-disciplinary, collaborative approaches to ensuring victim agency and voice throughout the criminal justice process. The effort is designed to assist OVW grantees as they build or enhance their Coordinated Community Responses (CCR) to ensure trauma-informed, victim-centered processes and procedures are used when responding to survivors engaged with criminal justice.
