Katie Bucko
Administrative Assistant
Katie Bucko joined NCVLI in December of 2017 as an Administrative Assistant.
What one thing has surprised you about victims’ rights since you started with NCVLI?
I was surprised to learn what a relatively new field victim law is, and that it has taken the efforts of advocates and attorneys over many years to ensure enforcement of such basic rights as the right to be present or the right to privacy.
What about NCVLI’s mission drew you to the work?
I am passionate about people and desire to engage every person I meet with respect, love, and acceptance. I love that NCVLI seeks to help a vulnerable population by creating change on a systemic level, such as through education and resource provision, so that change can be even more widespread.
As an organization what is NCVLI’s greatest strength?
Generosity of spirit. In my experience thus far, I really appreciate how genuine, approachable, and giving the people of NCVLI are, and this absolutely forms the culture of the organization.
What are your hobbies?
I will talk any sport with anyone! Personal favorites include baseball, football, basketball, and soccer. I also love reading mysteries, attempting difficult crosswords, and exploring the coast in all weather.
