Spotlight: I Have The Right To

I Have The Right To

NCVLI is thrilled to host Chessy Prout and Jenn Abelson as speakers at our closing session of the Conference!  Boston Globe Spotlight reporter Jenn Abelson will lead a discussion with teen survivor and advocate Chessy Prout.  Chessy was sexually assaulted as a 15-year-old as part of a tradition at St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire.  Chessy reported her attacker to police, testified against him in court, and filed a civil lawsuit against the school for failing to protect children.  Chessy shed her anonymity to let other survivors know they are not alone and launched the #IHaveTheRightTo campaign to encourage people to stand with victims of sexual violence.  Their  book, “I Have The Right To: A High School Survivor’s Story of Sexual Assault, Justice, and Hope” is moving and inspiring!  We are thrilled to welcome them to Portland!
