Board Spotlight
Lisa Zauner is an Audit Senior Manager at Perkins & Company.
Why did you first get interested in working with NCVLI and victims’ rights?
In my early twenties while serving in the Army I was the victim in an armed robbery. The experience, including the judicial process and outcome, was difficult for me–particularly being away from home and a strong support system. I have endeavored for an outlet to support victim’s rights in some way since this incident occurred, and am thrilled to have the opportunity to sit on the board.
As an organization what is NCVLI’s greatest strength?
The caliber and depth of knowledge of the attorneys at NCVLI, and their passion for victims’ rights.
What are your hobbies?
I love to run the trails near my house in southwest Portland. As a CPA, I spend the majority of my work day inside, but with so many hiking trails nearby, it’s easy to take the time for a short run to reconnect with nature a few days a week. I also enjoy hiking and camping with my family.
What has been the most rewarding thing you have done in your personal life?
Being a parent.
If you could change one thing about the current victims’ rights environment, be it legal, political, public recognition, victim social/psychological services, etc., what would it be?
Personally, I would love to see victims receive their own representatives in the judicial system.
