Legal Action of Wisconsin Victim Rights Project
Legal Action of Wisconsin Victim Rights Project

The Victim Rights Project is a joint project between Legal Action of WI and Judicare, which provides free legal services to victims of crime. The Victim Rights Project (VRP) works to ensure that a victim’s constitutional and statutory rights are not violated, and when a violation occurs, to seek remedy. VRP focuses on providing advice and representation during an active criminal case. VRP provides advice and representation to victims who may have privacy concerns related to the crime at any point in the investigation or court process. This includes representing victims in response to requests for a victim’s records (mental health, medical, school, etc.) by either motion, subpoena or other means. VRP focuses on a victim’s right to be heard and treated with dignity throughout a criminal case, and to provide representation when those rights are in jeopardy.
